Six questions to ask yourself before buying. Answer them and the choice narrows to two or three models.
1. Will the lock fit your door
Start with the door, not the features. All SEVN locks are designed for a 6068-standard mortise and a door leaf 40 to 120 mm thick, which suits most steel front doors in apartments.
How to check: measure the door thickness and photograph the door edge where the mortise sits. Send the photo on WhatsApp and a manager will confirm whether the model fits. For narrow door profiles there is the D-01 with a 40 mm wide panel.
2. Which unlocking methods you need
- 3D Face ID — the door opens by your face, even with your hands full. Recognises you in glasses, a hat and in the dark.
- Palm scanner — just hold your hand near the panel, no touching. Available on PRIME flagships and top SELECT models.
- Fingerprint — familiar and fast. Available on almost every model.
- Code — easy to share with guests, relatives or a technician.
- Card — for children, staff and hotel guests.
- App — unlock remotely, grant access, view the entry log.
- Mechanical key — a backup for any situation, included with every model.
The more methods, the more flexible access is for the whole family. Flagships and top SELECT models offer all seven.
3. Do you need a screen and video calling
An indoor OLED screen shows the lock status and, on models with a camera, the visitor at the door. MATE8, K7-A, K7-B, X1-A and X1-B support video calling, so you can talk to a visitor without opening the door.
If you do not need a screen, choose the ESSENTIAL series with a classic lever handle — simpler and cheaper.
4. Where is the door: apartment, house, office or hotel
- Apartment. Any model works — choose by unlocking methods and budget.
- Private house. The locks operate from −20 to +60 °C. Astana winters get colder, so for an outdoor door we recommend a vestibule or a consultation with a technician first.
- Office. Lever-handle models work well: cards or codes for staff, fingerprint for managers.
- Hotel or serviced apartments. Guests change daily, so codes and cards matter. R2-B works without biometrics: code, card and key.
5. What if the batteries run out
You will not be locked out: the outer panel has an emergency power port — connect a power bank and open the door as usual. And the mechanical key always works.
6. Prices and how the series differ
- ESSENTIAL — 56 990 ₸ – 80 990 ₸. Classic lever handle, fingerprint, code, card. For apartments, offices and hotels.
- SELECT — 109 990 ₸ – 179 990 ₸, plus models on request. Push-pull, OLED screen; top models add Face ID, palm scanner and video calling.
- PRIME — 239 990 ₸. Flagships: palm scanner, 3D Face ID, aircraft-grade aluminium and tempered glass body.
The lock warranty is 3 years and the battery warranty is 2 years. In Astana our own technicians install and set up the lock; we ship to other cities by courier.
